Nearly two decades of summer flute study.
Founded in 2008 by flutist and educator Patricia Surman as the Summer Flute Institute, the program has spent nearly two decades on intensive study, artistic collaboration, and performance. It now continues under the Mountain West Flute Institute banner.
The 2027 institute at Utah State University brings together artists, educators, and students for masterclasses, private coachings, chamber music, and performance opportunities, with time to enjoy northern Utah. It is open to flutists from grade 6 through adults.
