High School Scholarship Competition
A scholarship competition for Utah graduating seniors, decided by a recorded preliminary round and a live final on January 9, 2027 at Riverton Music in Sandy.

The High School Scholarship Competition awards scholarships to graduating high school flutists in Utah. Every entrant submits a recorded preliminary round, and selected finalists perform in a public recital where the winners are announced.
For Utah graduating seniors.
This competition is open to graduating high school seniors in Utah who are ready to prepare repertoire and perform it publicly. A current UFA membership is required to enter any UFA competition.

How the competition works
The competition runs in two rounds. Every entrant begins with a recorded preliminary round, and selected finalists go on to perform in the live final.
Recorded preliminary
- Register and submit by December 5, 2026
- Prepare two contrasting pieces
- Record an unedited, audio-only performance
- Submit it as an unlisted YouTube link
- Piano accompaniment is not required
Live final round
- Selected finalists advance to the January 9, 2027 final
- Performed as a public recital
- Held at Riverton Music in Sandy
- Winners are announced after judging
An accompanist is provided for finalists.
Finalists rehearse with Dr. Mitchell Giambalvo on January 7 and 8, 2027, from 4:00 to 5:00 PM. He also accompanies finalists during the January 9 final round.
There is no additional pianist fee for finalists. Piano accompaniment is not required for the preliminary recording.
