Performance at Hogle Zoo!
On Saturday, June 28th, students of MWFF will be performing at Utah’s Hogle Zoo! This day is the zoo’s “Pollinator Party” and we will be performing flute choir pieces about bees, bugs, and birds. Grades 10-12 will be performing pieces with beat boxing, flutter tonguing, and using auxiliary instruments (piccolo, alto flute, bass flute, and contrabass flute) during their performance. They will be conducted by this year’s Guest Artist, Kathy Blocki! Grades 7-9 will perform one of their choir pieces in a caterpillar line. Have you ever played your flute and someone else’s flute at the same time? Grades 4-6 will showcase how our flutes can rock like dancing bugs, and Grades 1-3 will share their Kooka Birdie calls through their headjoints. This 45 minute flute choir performance is one people will be buzzing about! Before the concert, we sign each other’s matching MWFF T-shirts!
Student Honors Recital
MWFF loves to celebrate standout student flute playing in the annual Student Honors Recital – a fun, feel-good recital of beautiful music and well-deserved applause. If you’ve been putting in the work and are ready to share your talent, we want to hear from you! The highlight of being selected to perform is working with our collaborative pianist, Dr. Mitchell Giambalvo!

What a Flute Mom says about Dr. G:
Dr. Mitchell Giambalvo is not only an incredible collaborator, but he always brings so much fun and energy to MWFF! He cheers the students along in all of their performances and helps bring out the very best in each student! -Mary Bevan
What a student says about Dr. G:
I liked the experience of playing and performing with Dr. G! He follows you easily, helps you feel comfortable performing, plus- HE IS A LOT OF FUN! – June Astill, age 15

Students will receive special certificates for performing and will have their picture taken with Dr. G! Apply on the MWFF Recitals tab by May 19, 2025. There are no extra fees for this special experience!
