Masterclass & Student Honors Recital – Grades 4-12.

Students selected to be in Dr. Garver’s masterclasses will prepare to perform at MWFF Student Honors Recital. They will rehearse with Dr. Mitchell Giambalvo during their masterclass. Students will have their picture taken with Dr. Sasha Garver and Dr. Mitchell Giambalvo, and will receive a certificate after their performance.

To audition, students must submit a video audition link of the full piece they want to perform with piano accompaniment (live or recorded) if the repertoire requires it. Students should dress up for the recording. These video links are due by June 1st. Students will be notified by June 8th if they are accepted to perform. Upon acceptance, students will need to scan the piano accompaniment and email to MWFF to be distributed to Dr. Mitchell Giambalvo. There is an application fee of $15.

Flute Olympics

A Student favorite of MWFF!  Students prepare prior to MWFF by learning scales in their scale level based off of ability.  At MWFF, they pass off scales to a Flute Expert to earn a Gold Medal!  Students participate in various Olympic Stations with breathing games, long tone races, and even Flute Case Wrestling!  See ‘Flute Olympics’ tab for more information on how to prepare for this event!

Flute Olympic Rules

Before MWFF begins, choose your scale level and prepare as many steps within that level that you desire.  (You do not have to learn every step within your level to participate.)  You will pass off what you know to a Flute Scale Expert at MWFF.  A “GOLD” medal will be presented to those that pass off ALL the steps within their level.  A Special award will be given to the student that can play the longest long tone at MWFF!
